6.1. Design Notes

  • Mount the module on the top side of PCB with clear sky exposure for optimal GNSS signal reception.
  • Avoid placing metal shields or high-speed digital traces beneath the antenna patch.
  • Ensure a solid ground plane under the antenna reference area per the integration manual.
  • Decouple VCC with low-ESR capacitors close to the module power pins.
  • UART or I²C interface can be selected depending on MCU design requirements.

8. Precautions

  • Do not install the module directly under metal shielding or dense plastic covers.
  • Avoid using the GNSS antenna near high-frequency transmitters or switching regulators.
  • Ensure stable power supply and ground return path to minimize noise coupling.
  • Follow u-blox ESD handling guidelines; avoid touching the antenna or RF components.
  • During soldering, limit reflow temperature to 260 °C for ≤ 30 seconds.
